Neither the plane nor the TV, even the fridge. The most valuable invention of the twentieth century is related to computer technology. This at least shows a survey in the U.S., where 40% of respondents finds that the computer was the invention of the millennium, followed by television and refrigerator, which tied in points in the second position in the list.
The aircraft, spacecraft and even the Internet does not seem to have so thoroughly in draft Americans. The survey also asks what should never have been invented: in first place nuclear weapons, followed by credit cards, genetic engineering and computer games.
